When 'solo' means 'only,' it has the same meaning as 'solamente.' This 'only' meaning of 'solo' used to be written with an accent: 'sólo.' The new rules for writing Spanish (Ortografía de la lengua española), published near the end of 2010, changed that. Some writers still insist on keeping the accent for the 'only' meaning of 'solo,' but most texts containing 'sólo' were written before 2011.
The other meaning of 'solo'the one traditionally written without an accentis 'alone.'
If you know that 'he/she/it/you(formal) talk(s)' is '(él/ella/usted) habla,' then adding an -s gives you '(tú) hablas' ['you(informal) talk'], and adding and -n gives you '(ellos/ellas/ustedes) hablan' ['they/you all(formal) talk']. This works for almost all verbs (except 'ser') and in almost all tenses (except preterite and command form). So, once you know how to say 'he eats' ('come'), for example, you also know how to say, informally, 'you eat' ('comes') and 'they eat' ('comen')!
